This is SAVONNA SPRACKLIN.

Born in Prince Rupert, BC, the traditional lands of the Tsimshian First Nations, her family lines from her mother Darlene Spracklin, root deep in the Northwest Coast with the Nisga’a people of the Nass River Valley. Her grandmother Alice Azak gave her the name Heek’al (Determined). She is Laxsgiik (Eagle) of the wilp (house) Gwiix Maaẃ from Gitwinksihlkw, Nisga’a Nation.

Her father Richard Spracklin’s family line extends across Eastern Canada and the Atlantic from her paternal great grandmother Elsie Towe from Ireland, and her great grandfather Augusto Fabbri from Italy.  Her paternal grandfather Sidney Spracklin was born and raised in Newfoundland with family originating from Wales and England before that.

Growing up she grappled with the idea that her voice could not belong in the world unless it complied to the cultural standard, but what even was that? It was often challenging to be all things to everyone and the feeling of not totally belonging was always with her. But it would never put out the fire to keep trying, even when her voice shook.

Now she navigates the vulnerability of being authentic in a world that demands it but doesn’t always leave space. Seeking to understand that ways of being have roots and branches, and each season brings growth and change and later decay and dormancy. Cycles that are the same for everyone, but the journey of each can be far from. And yet every new day is shaped from all these things, and we can still falter to see it unless someone can show it to us.

With this background she has been steadily crafting her body of work with great care and respect for the characters she plays.

Her most fulfilling work to date is her portrayal of Sarah in Wildhood (2021), produced by Rebel Road Film, written and directed by Bretten Hannam, starring Phillip Forest Lewitski and Joshua Odjick with Michael Greyeyes, in which she earned a nomination for ‘Best Supporting Performance’ at the UBCP/ACTRA Awards in 2022.

Early in her career she led a 3 part web series called Telegraph Cove (2017) written and directed by Darren Borrowman, in which her performance earned her a 2017 Leo Award for ‘Best Performance by a Female in a Web Series” as well as nominations for “Best Actress” in 2017 Vancouver Web Fest and “Best Actress in International Narrative” in 2017 New Zealand Web Fest.

Her most recent works can be found on Murder In A Small Town (2024-2025) for FoxTV/Global, starring Kristen Kruek and Rossif Sutherland, as well as Sherlock & Daughter (2025) for CW starring David Thewlis and Blu Hunt.

When she is not on set, she is mothering her brilliantly outgoing and wild daughter or teaching and learning from actors at Vancouver Film School.
